Big Poppa Peepers - Ba! Ba!

United Backyard Wrestling came together in the year of 2000 upon it’s founders; Robert L. Noe, Joseph R. Noe and E. Rusty See. Every chance these three men had they would bust out a match to not just entertain others but to entertain themselves. The three men discovered and used every move they possibly could, pile drivers, power bombs and even choke slams until they had the moves down, it was then the UBW was officially born. This marked the infant era of the UBW and is currently known to date as the ‘Early Years’ of United Backyard Wrestling.

The Beginning (2002)
The first official UBW match was set aside to crown the first ever UBW World Champion. The struggle over the championship lasted two hours of blood, sweat and even some tears but they were not about to let such a beautiful thing go, they took every drop of blood the could muster to be deemed the UBW World Champion. The first UBW Championship was a white t-shirt with dirt and blood covering it. The T-Shirt in which represented the UBW World Championship was replaced in the August of 2001 by the Leather-branded belt which is carried so proudly now.

The UBW continued to wrestle from backyard to backyard on irregular schedule. The Championship was thrown back and forth but not carelessly, the UBW did not have a certain direction it wanted to follow at the time. Slowly these backyard wrestlers transitioned themselves into UBW Superstars, and slowly began developing characters. During the later transition into the year 2002 UBW saw the arrival of such current superstars as Big Poppa Peepers, Josh Burns and a quiet and under shadowed superstar; Alex. UBW began to see people come watch there shows and interest grew. Men such as Warren McKee and James Koester went at it. The days of the summer of 2002 where spent in public parks and various private grounds like apartments. It could then be told the UBW was changing as Superstars like Joe Noe and Bob Noe took there final bow and handed the torch down to new and upcoming superstars. This point in time is simply remembered today as the ‘Warren McKee Days’ simply due to one event where UBW Alumni Warren McKee injured every single wrestler on the UBW Roster.

Rise of the Revulsion Era (2002-03)
In September of 2002 UBW saw it’s biggest change to date as current Owner Gregory Stevens made his way into the UBW as well didGregory Stevens Ace of Spades. Storylines started to be discussed upon the UBW wrestlers as Gregory Stevens took the throne as the first ever Owner of United Backyard Wrestling. As many ideas of Storylines took place so did the idea of reaching new audiences. During the Fall of 2002 UBW launched it’s first official website; UBWWrestling.com and shortly before that UBW began producing a weekly show known as Tuesday Night Revulsion; which still runs on a weekly basis. Things where changing the UBW, but for the better. UBW saw the arrival of the United Backyard Wrestling Hardcore Championship and the UBW United States Championship, then current UBW stars began to rise to stardom and talent became recognized upon the overshadowed, legend Alex Andreuws took the backseat to give time to new coming stars. It was a great moment in the UBW as everything was changing for the better. These Days are known as the ‘Revulsion Era’ as UBW depended on it’s weekly show for survival.

Upon the cold days of December 2002 UBW reached yet another new era it produced it’s first every large scaled event; UBW New Year’s Eve-il. UBW has it’s first ever free-per-view on the last day of what was a ground breaking year. At the first ever UBW FPV we saw the arrival of superstars like Mike Carroll, The Fallen, and Bizzle. Things where chaotic as UBW witnessed it’s first ever large scale faction reek havoc upon the very federation which helped create there personas. Upon the success of United Backyard Wrestling’s first every Free-Per-View UBW continued the now-tradition in February by hosting yet another Free-Per-View; InVasion. InVasion will built upon the storyline of IoV’s quest to throw owner Gregory Stevens UBW out of orbit, and that they almost did as UBW saw owner Gregory Stevens walk out of the UBW and witnessed it’s first ever ownership change as former World Champion and still rookie, Ace of Spades took over the covenant position. As we all may or may not know now, Instigators of Violence (IoV) reign did not last long as things began to fall apart leading into what was to become the largest UBW event to date; Backyard Brawl.

Premiere of Backyard Brawl (2003)
Backyard Brawl was promoted as just another UBW Free-Per-View, but many within the UBW felt deep down inside of them that this was going to be the biggest event ever in United Backyard Wrestling’s history. It represented everything in the UBW, both past and present, meeting up to say goodbye to one another and hello the new era UBW was about to bring upon itself. On March 18th, 2003 the UBW wrestlers woke themselves up in the morning to prepare themselves for an historic event. It was a drizzly and muddy day that day; but that was not near enough to stop the UBW Wrestlers from embarking on one of the largest events. The tentative main event for Backyard Brawl was World Champion Third Degree Burns (now known as Josh Burns) was scheduled to face the fan favorite Big Poppa Peepers in a buried alive match. But only four days before this historic even in backyard wrestling history Josh Burns suffered a near-career ending shoulder injury. UBW panicked and in the heat of the moment they released Josh Burns from his UBW Wrestling contract and vacated the title. UBW built up the injury as ‘Josh Burns simply walking out’ on the UBW. With that said UBW quickly promoted the main event as a Three Stages of Hell between Alex Andreuws, Alex and first contender Big Poppa Peepers.

Backyard Brawl was full of exciting matches as Jimmy K won the Albuquerque Championship in the fastest UBW Match ever (7 seconds), and disguised owner Gregory Stevens fooled everyone into thinking he was Ian English, tag team partner of Alex Andreuws. Together the two became the first Champions of the now defunct UBW Tag Team Championship. But the defiant highlight of the afternoon was the horrific battle which took place between Alex Andreuws, Alex and Peepers. The three men tore apart there fragile bodies with any means possible. Ladders, chairs and fire where all a huge role in the match that stopped the wrestling world. In a display of the desire for the UBW World Championship superstar Alex threw his body onto the ladder in which Alex Andreuws was standing on top of during the second match of there three stages of hell. The Support the ladder gave way and Andreuws found himself in mid-air. It was a moment when everyone’s eyes where glued to the match as Andreuws suspended in air before crashing down violently to the earth. Everyone surely thought that Andreuws dead, yet he stood again to battle his two other opponents. As Backyard Brawl drew close Big Poppa Peepers was deemed the new UBW World Champion for the sixth time in his backyard wrestling career. Many began to realize as it sunk into there brains; UBW had entered itself into a brand new, exciting era; the ‘Post Brawl’ Era.

Heading in a New Direction… (Summer 2003)
The spring of 2003 brought many exciting things. The corrupt Gregory Stevens was unmasked as Ian English and won back the right to be the UBW Owner, the battle for the Hardcore and Untied States Championship grew more tenser and the much underrated Alex came out of nowhere to capture his first ever UBW World Championship in what was named the spectacular victory in UBW History. As the leafs began to turn greener and the sun continued to beat down harder the summer came around and UBW found itself in the biggest competitive run it had ever seen. In late May of 2003 Owner Gregory Stevens made the most controversial decision by stripping Alex of his World Championship and dedicating the whole summer to brutal fights, backstabbing relationships and utter Anarchy just to be on the many to be named contender for the World Championship. United Backyard Wrestling coming fresh out of spring events like Ruckus reached upon a new event; UBW Downfall. The Downfall main event was to be dedicated to see who would be facing Big Poppa Peepers (who was given the right to be one of two contenders for the title) at Dangerous Games; UBW’s soon-to-be second biggest event. Upon the mind of Stevens he decided that everyone should have a shot at the title and the main event would in fact be the first ever Downfall Brawl – an over the rope challenge. Many of the UBW Superstars fought upon themselves and when the dust settled and the bodies cleared from the ring it was then discovered that Big Poppa Peepers best friend and tag team partner Alex Andreuws would be facing Peepers for the shot to be the first World Champion in three months.

As the summer progressed and returning superstars such as Ace of Spades and Bob Noe returned from retirement the stage was set Josh Burnsfor an epic event. The Fallen and Alex competed in the most numerous and famous battles over the United States Championship. Ace of Spades and ‘The Legend’ Bob Noe battled over the UBW Hardcore Championship and over it all it was clear the biggest battle was over the now upside down relationship between Andreuws and Peepers. At Dangerous Games 2003 the two fought each other in a Ladder match, the title was suspended high above the ring and owner Gregory Stevens refereed the match. The night ended with an surprise victory as the fiercely hated and competitive Big Poppa Peepers claimed yet again his seventh reign of the United Backyard Wrestling World Championship.

The summer quickly turned into fall and things began to change yet again. UBW quickly approached it’s one year birthday of Revulsion and threw a large celebration in honor of the accomplishment in which the had held. UBW took bold moves such as terminating the very man who helped build the UBW; Bob Noe and bringing in former superstars such as Josh Burns. UBW also brought back it’s short lived character of Eddie and quickly he earned the fans respect and his place of the card. Many brutal matches took place that day and will for always be remembered. As the year 2003 drew close UBW saw Alex recapture the World Championship from Big Poppa Peepers and Alex Andreuws turn his back on the fans he had always depended on. Things in the UBW Where definitely changing. The Battle between Josh Burns and Gregory Stevens came to full fledged battle, names such as The Fallen and Alex became widely known by many in the backyard wrestling industry and UBW placed itself as United Backyard Wrestling, Inc. a leader in backyard wrestling and a federation that was here to stay.

Fresh Faces come out of the Crowd (2004)

In the early months of 2004 UBW put all the promises to it’s fans and wrestlers in concrete as such events as Backyard Brawl 2 brought in record crowds to witness the climax of the UBW each years. Fans, food and a Rock band came together to celebrate the United Backyard Wrestling’s awesome talent. Such Superstars as Eddie, Sizzlin Steve Anderson and The Matt stood forward and began to show that there was a new generation to the UBW. Such Veterans and Mike Carrol and Alex Andreuws proved that there time was far from done and why they stood as the dominate force of this very company. In the Summer of 2004 UBW Owner and Chief Executive Operator found his way to the exit and left the UBW’s television scene after one dramatic run which changed the UBW. Wrestler turned office junkie Josh Burns stood to the plate prepared for the challenges ahead and the overall production of the very company began to improve; even from a stage which had exceeded all expectations.
